Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) landed in Loch nan Uamh on 5th August 1745. In 1746, after the battle of Culloden, he returned here as a fugitive with a price of £30,000 on his head. Loch nan Uamh means "The Loch of the Cave".
