Standing near Score Bay, Kilmuir, on the Isle of Skye, this sturdy, traditional dwelling is representative of the old way of life on the island, and of the Western Highlands in general.  Strong thick walls and a weatherproof thatch gave considerable protection from the buffetings of Atlantic gales.  Flora MacDonald, Bonnie Prince Charlie's companion, is buried near to this spot, having returned to her homeland from North Carolina.
