The Crinan Canal

the Crinan Canal

The Crinan Canal was constructed between 1793 and 1801 in order to allow ships to reach the Atlantic from Loch Fyne, rather than taking the longer route round the Kintyre Peninsula.  This photograph, taken at the western end of the 9-mile long canal, looks towards the Sound of Jura.

A print of this costs $25 (£16)
