Ben Lawers and the Tarmachans are part of a group of mountains which lie between Loch Tay and Glen Lyon, Lawers itself being the highest of seven peaks, all of which constitute the largest mountain massif above 2,500 feet in the Southern Highland area.  The area abounds in Alpine plants.
