The City of Perth, formerly known as St. Johnstoun, was the capital of Scotland until 1437.  The Sidlaw Hills rise to the northeast, the Ochil Hills to the southwest, and the Carse of Gowrie lies to the east along the northern shores of the Firth of Tay.  The city abounds in historical riches.  This photograph looks eastward along the River Tay.
