This formidable mountain pass links Speyside with Deeside.  The "walk" is 28 miles long, starting at Aviemore and finishing at Braemar, and should not be attempted by inexperienced walkers.  The track reaches a height of 2,700 feet between Ben Macdhui and Braeriach.  To the east the track descends towards Glen Dee and the Mar Forest.
