Glasgow - Tolbooth Steeple

Tolbooth Steeple

Lying at the eastern end of Argyle Street, one of Glasgow's main shopping and business centres, this steeple is 113 feet high, and is topped by a crown - one of only three in Scotland. Dating from 1637, it is all that remains of St. Mary's Church, which was burnt by inebriated members of the Hell Fire Club in 1793.
