Alexander Selkirk, Daniel Defoe's original role model for "Robinson Crusoe", was born in nearby Lower Largo, Fife, in 1676, and his statue still stands near the harbour.  Largo Law, pictured here in "haar", or East Coast sea mist, rises to 948 feet.
