This photograph, taken from Lyle Hill, Greenock, looks towards the hills of Argyll across the Firth of Clyde.  Ferries run frequently from Gourock to Dunoon, linking Highlands and Lowlands.  The prosperity of this area had its base in shipbuilding, industry and fishing, and several old buildings are still to be seen locally.
