Glasgow City Chambers were opened in 1888 by Queen Victoria. A 240 foot high tower surmounts the Italian Renaissance style building. George Square itself includes statues of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, Dr. Thomas Graham, James Watt, William Gladstone, Sir Robert Peel, James Oswald, Thomas Campbell, Lord Clyde, Sir John Moore, Sir Walter Scott, and Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns. |
