The Island of Arran, lying 14 miles offshore in the Firth of Clyde, is 20 miles long and 10 miles wide. The north of the island is rugged and mountainous, and the panoramic view from Goat Fell, Arran's highest mountain, is quite spectacular. The Island of Arran has long been a favourite holiday resort for people from the west of Scotland and elsewhere. Every summer, Arran hosts a large folk music festival at the beginning of June, which lasts for over a week, and attracts musicians from all over the world. This photograph was taken from the town of Ayr.
