Murphy's interest in mountains began at age
eight, in Carlingford, Ireland, when he climbed Slieve Foy. During his
working life as an Audiovisual Librarian, he was partly responsible for
the building of a local history photographic archive. His mountain
photography developed during this period, when he was in his natural
element on the mountains, and his work has appeared in a number of
publications. His lectures have been enjoyed by a wide variety of
audiences throughout Britain. A lifelong enthusiast of Scots and Irish
Gaelic, Mike has taken great pains to accurately reproduce Gaelic place
names. Mike is a talented musician, playing a variety of instruments. |
