This Stirlingshire castle, built about 1566, stands on a highly interesting part of the county. Within one square mile, lies a microcosm of Scottish history. Nearby is a stretch of Roman road, the former Royal Forest of Tor Wood, and within that wood the remains of Tor Wood Broch are to be found. The Forresters of Garden were the lairds here from about the 15th century, and the castle passed to the Forresters of Corstorphine, who were responsible for extending the castle courtyard. |
