This sculptured, 23 feet high stone, inscribed with some remarkable carvings, stands in the town of Forres on the Moray Firth. It is said to commemorate a battle won by Sweyn, or Sueno, son of the King of Denmark over Malcolm ll in 1008. The town of Forres is mentioned in Shakespeare's "MacBeth" as the site of King Duncan's court.
