Scotstarvit Tower

Scotstarvit Tower, standing on the Hill of Tarvit, some three miles south of Cupar, carries the date of 1627, but is probably older, as a charter of 1529 refers to a structure on the Hill of Tarvit.  Sir John Scot of Scotstarvit, director of the Chancery at the time of Charles I, authored "The Staggering State of Scots Statesmen", strangely appropriate to 21st Century Scottish politicians.  Sir John also founded the Humanity Chair at the University of St. Andrews.
