Glamis Castle, fictional home of Shakespeare's "MacBeth", has been a royal residence since 1372, and was the birthplace of the late Princess Margaret, sister of the current Queen Elizabeth II. Her mother, the Queen Mother, spent much of her childhood here. The first Earl Patrick was responsible for many improvements to the original building, with subsequent embellishments and alterations by Professor James Dunbar-Naismith.
