St. Giles Cathedral, or more correctly, the High Kirk of St. Giles, is surmounted by a Fifteenth Century Crown Steeple, and is the finest example of only three of these in Scotland. There has been a church on this site in the old High Street since the Ninth Century. The colours of the Scottish regiments hang in the nave. There is also a monument to Robert Louis Stevenson, and John Knox was minister at St. Giles until his death in 1572. |
