Drumcoltran Castle is situated one mile north of the Galloway village of Kirkgunzeon and is an L-shaped 16^th Century structure. It was owned by the Maxwell family and displays some interesting Latin inscriptions advising the reader to “keep secrets, speak little, be truthful, abstain from the drinking of wine, remember death and cultivate piety”.
