Doune Castle is probably one of Scotland's best examples of mediaeval castles, having been built by the Regent Albany in the early Fifteenth Century. After his death in 1424, the castle passed into the ownership of the Stuarts of Doune, Earls of Moray. The "Bonnie Earl of Moray" lived here until his murder in 1592. |
