Craigend Castle is situated in Mugdock Country Park near Milngavie, to the north of Glasgow. The castle was built in 1815 by James Smith and designed by Alexander Ramsay in a Regency Gothic style. Nearby Mugdock Castle also stands within Mugdock Country Park. Craigend was occupied variously by the Smith, Buchanan, Outram and Yarrow families, although it was later the home of Craigend Zoo towards the end of the 20^th Century.
