Bedlay Castle

Bedlay Castle

Lying about eight miles to the east of Glasgow on the main Stirling road, Bedlay Castle stands on a site which can be traced as far back as the days of Malcolm Canmore, who was killed at the siege of Alnwick in 1093.  Possibly the most important owners of the estate were the Lords Boyd of Kilmarnock.  Villagers from nearby Chryston village drew their water from an ancient well in the castle wall.
