Balvaird Castle stands above the Perth & Kinross village of Glenfarg, some four miles south of Abernethy, and was built in the late 15th century by Sir Andrew Murray, son of Sir William Murray of Tullibardine.  Now owned by the Earl of Mansfield, Balvaird is in the care of the State.  An unusual feature of this castle is the two-storey cap-house.
