Newton Stewart and Cree Bridge

Newton Stewart - Cree Bridge

The River Cree runs between the towns of Newton Stewart and Minnigaff.  The Cree bridge, pictured here, was built by John Rennie in 1813, replacing an earlier bridge destroyed by the flood waters of the River Cree.  Newton Stewart has a livestock market and visitors are allowed to watch the production of mohair rugs and scarves.
