This ancient Royal Burgh, the most important town in the old Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, derives its name from Saint Cuthbert.  This photograph shows the River Dee at the town harbour.  The town is dominated by MacLellan's Castle and contains many other historically interesting buildings.
