This photograph shows the River Nith at Dumfries.  The bridge in the distance, now used by pedestrians, was originally built by Devorgilla, wife of John Balliol.  She kept Balliol's heart in a casket, and both she and the casket were buried in Sweetheart Abbey, some six miles southwest of Dumfries.
